Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account on Granted, we collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, education level, school, GPA, major, and demographic details you choose to share. This information is used exclusively to match you with relevant scholarships and improve your application experience.

We also collect usage data such as pages visited, features used, and scholarship interactions to improve the platform. On mobile devices, we may collect device identifiers for push notification delivery.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Match you with scholarships that fit your profile
• Track your application progress and deadlines
• Power the AI Essay Coach with personalized feedback
• Send deadline reminders and scholarship alerts (with your permission)
• Generate insights for the “Why Am I Amazing?” feature
• Improve the platform through anonymous, aggregated analytics

3. Data Sharing & AI Subprocessors

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers (subprocessors) necessary to operate the platform, each of which is contractually obligated to protect your data and to use it only to provide their service. We may disclose information if required by law.

Some features send content you provide to third-party AI services so we can give you feedback, matching, and coaching. Specifically:

• Anthropic (Claude) — essay drafts, application text, and profile context you submit to the Essay Coach, Deep Review, Autopilot, and document tools.
• Perplexity — profile attributes used to search for and verify matching scholarships and fellowships.
• OpenAI — used only as a fallback for fellowship coaching if our primary AI provider is unavailable; the same coaching context applies.
• Tavus — audio/video and transcript data if you use the AI mock-interview feature.
• Supabase (database & authentication hosting) and Stripe (payment processing; we never receive your full card number).

These AI providers do not use your submissions to train their public models under our API agreements. We send only the data a feature needs, and you can use the app without the AI features if you prefer. If your school or program is covered by FERPA, contact us for our data-processing addendum.

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth. Your password is never stored in plain text.

5. Your Rights

You can access and update your profile at any time from the Settings page. Under “Privacy & Your Data” you can download a complete copy of everything we store about you as a JSON file, and permanently delete your account and all associated datayourself, immediately — no email request or waiting period required. If you prefer, you can still contact us at the email below and we will process the request for you.

6. Children's Privacy

Granted is designed for high school juniors and older (typically 16+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Granted after changes constitutes acceptance.
